Is it possible.. - by D'Juhn Keep

To show more page numbers than just up to 4 and then "last page"? As it gets a bit annoying for viewing page 5 when there are 6 pages ;) Obviously I don't know how inconvenient/impossible this is to implement, so forgive my ignorance :)

It's easy to do, just involves changing a 5 to a different number in the Forum Display Options of the forums' control panel, I think.
My brain says three things simultaneously:
a) How many threads get more than 5 pages of replies? Is it worth changing (no matter how easy it is) for what amounts to one or two threads a month? Plus how inconvenient is it really to open a thread and click gently on one of the numbers within, if they don't appear in the main thread summary on the forum page?
b) If it's only one or two threads a month, what's the big deal? Increasing the number of linked pages in the forum summary isn't going to clutter everything up and it's not like it's hard to do. There's no reason offhand I can think of not to replace the number 5 with, say, the number 9 in the control panel where you specify how many pages to link to on the thread summary pages.
c) I could do with another coffee.
My brain tends to argue with itself a lot, but the bit that asks about coffee is just so calm and rational and downright cute that I generally listen to it first.
(edit)
Ah, fuggit.
Let's try it at 9, see how it goes.
Note that this could change at any time, either back to 5 or up beyond 9... Consider this an experiment.
Bottom line: It's doable, and it might very well be done. I think changing the number of linked pages to like a maximum of 10 or 15 might be overdoing it, though. But I dunno.
Stay tuned.

It's happened before on fast-growing threads that were over page 4 that I went to click on "last post" and found myself on page 6, having entirely skipped page 5, and needed to go back. Fairly annoying.
