The following is the header for the Comm Chat forum. The format, obviously, is not HTML text. But note the red portions.
The first is the topic to which
Ataricom supposedly posted. In actuality, the topic was: (

Unless I am mistaken, is the Post listed (Bloody Christians) and the poster (ataricom) not supposed to be relevant to each other?

Perhaps ataricom was the last person to post in the Bloody Christions thread? just a thought. i mean, i'm not actually going to expend the effort to find out...

Nice try. :D No, I was the last at that particular time. Ataricom's was the start of a completely new thread.
I have noticed this discrepancy before. A thread named, with a supposed contributor, but the poster was actually the most current poster on the forum, but in an entirely different thread. And, obviously, the thread named, was an "older" referrenced post that was active BEFORE the person posted.
Again, it was my impression, perhaps incorrectly, that the two (name of thread) and (most current post(er)) were directly connected.

I think it's got something to do with adding a Poll.
I've often seen latest threads which aren't there... On the main forum summary page it will display an alleged thread / poster which, upon investigation, turns out not to exist.
What I think happens is this:
Thread is made and submitted, it shows up in the Main Page Summary but the thread starter is elsewhere, happily adding a Poll... Notice when you choose to make a Poll thread you do so AFTER you have submitted the Thread Part Of It.
My guess is that the software has already logged the thread but is holding it away from actual display in the forum pending the thread starter filling out the Poll Options and submitting the Poll.
Seems to only happen with threads which, when they finally DO materialise, are Polls.
I'm going to say Poll again, just because it's so damn funny.
Poll.
RARRRR
POLL!!!!!!!1
So, um... Yeah.
Far as I've been able to work out, that's what the thing is.
And, of course, if you click on the Main Summary thread (the one that isn't there but will be soon with a Poll attached) you get taken to what the REAL last thread is. Or something.

And 'pol' is the Russian word for both 'sex' and 'floor'. Pol na polye, anyone? :cheeky:

Nice try, buglunch. ;) "Pol" is gender. Sex is sex.

Thanks for the info, GBM. It's no big deal as long as it's a common, and if I remember to just open the main forum and pick a thread, instead of trying the links in the sidebar.

I think it is because the thread title in the Last Post column is actually a hack. The default vB2 install only gives info on the last poster and the time.
