I don't think this is cosmic irony at all. It's just sounds an inconveniece and lacks that twisted touch like Beethoven losing his hearing.
That's because you don't think your wedding day should be blessed by the Gods. But some people do.

Better, I think, then believing it's good luck to have an elephant take a crap in your living room.

That's what American English calls "sarcasm". Dramatic irony is the one that's hard to define.

Nobody got my Ozzymandus reference in an irony thread?
Now that's irony. Not particularly dramatic. I didn't slap anyone and storm away with my hand on my hip or nothin.

It would help if you spelled his name somewhat correctly. Also if you didn't assume everyone here is a poetry nerd.

I would imagine that the general level of erudition -- especially in CommChat, if you want to get ironic -- is sufficient for people to at least know it from Civ IV. Or Watchmen.
Neckbearded troglodytes, we all. All nerds of some stripe.

The name reminded me of a side character in Ruby 2: The Further Adventures of a Galactic Gumshoe.

With an S? Two? I wondered about the spelling and suppose I should have googled it. So long ago I read it but the phrase "Look upon my works ye mighty and despair" on the base of a statue long broken amidst ruins is such a haunting irony that I thought I could trust my faulty memory. Ah well. So many worse things to be than a nerd.

Remove a "z" and then substitute a "deus" for a "dus".

...and then substitute a "dias" for "deus"....
