So, I'm the one reading into things? I'm done with this BS.

Scot's comment didn't help because Ko0K doesn't realise that you guys actually have slept together.

Transformers apologetics is really annoying. The film is an irredeemable pile of shit and everyone knows it, but hey 'it's a turn your brain off film'. No it's not. You can't turn your brain off that much without chemical help, and then you wake up with no kidneys and all manner of disturbing bruising you'd rather nobody knew about. Which is what it really feels like after Transformers. The 'turn your brain off an enjoy it' reaction is actually a kind of Helsinki Syndrome esque thing where you are so traumatised by how shitty the whole thing is and how badly you've been had, your emotional experience does a loop in order to cope and spins it into a positive. 'Turn your brain off' is for cheap, silly, random horror films and romantic comedies. There is simply no reason for a film that has had so much put into it as Transformers to be so terrible in every single way. It's unforgivable and any tacit acceptance of it is bad for you and it's bad for movies.
Hopefully Ironman and others this year will remind us what good popcorn flicks are like

All I'm pointing out is that opinions vary. Factual matters can be falsified, but matters of taste and personal preferences can not because there are no absolutes when it comes to those terms. You can support your opinion with a sound argument, but even that can't turn an opinion into a fact.
Also, I'm not defending or apologizing for anything. Sometimes I proffer an opinion that is exploratory in nature even if I do not believe in it. What I find interesting is the tendency some people have towards attempting to invalidate someone else's opinion rather than acknowledge it as an alternative perspective.

But there are facts. If someone is a bad actor they are a bad actor. If a plot is puerile. If a film doesn't make sense. If there are plot holes. If motivations change randomly without explanation (and it's not some trippy Cronenberg affair).
Sometime a film is bad and just is. You can tell me it's your opinion that black coffee is sweet if you like but just no.
I'm not saying you can apply this all to Transformers but sometimes if you can't see that something sucks it's not to do with your opinion, it's because you plain don't get it.
And by slept I meant cornholed.

6.5 / 10
I would have given it a 7 except that it contained the ugliest movie pizza ever!
Things blew up and there were some neat fights. The exposition was frequent and clumsy (pause for meaningful moment, explain character development or outline moral issue in words of two syllables or less... aaaaaand... back to things blowing up).
Downey can't help but be brilliant even when the script is bland (hey, how about stealing half a mil from one of the action sequences to, you know, pay a friggin' writer or something?). Making a script breathe doesn't mean ventilating it with plot holes.
The bad guys were total idiots - hardly threatening. ("That doesn't look anything like the missile he's supposed to be making!" - "No it doesn't! Let's go get some falafel, Mahmood.") If they hadn't been middle eastern there would have been no menace in them at all.
Gweneth was easy on the eyes and actually did a bit of acting. Good chemistry with Downey. Otherwise the switchboard was abuzz with phoned in performances.
Could have been better but turned out to be mostly fluff. And yeah, the pole dancing stews scene was woefully short...

And it's still better than 99% of the "movies" that has been comming out of Hollywood the last couple of decades.
