The problem is your insistence on reading into things and constructing backstories that simply don't exist.
What "personal reasons" do I need to recognize that a crap movie was crap? Why must holding a film up as an example of cinematic vacuity be the result of some personal grudge?
I don't see how you equate asking a casual question with reading into anything, but I did make the observation that the degree of disapproval you've had for that particular movie seemed to be above normal. What back story is there to be constructed when there is nothing else at stake than an answer to a question? You know what, you can write that off as a rhetorical question.
Anyway, it wasn't a question that demanded a serious answer. You made it clear that you despise Transformers, and apparently you have your own reason that doesn't need to be any of my business. That's fine with me.

Really? I think it's safe to say that it succeeded on the economic level.
Jenny Lopez sells millions. FUCKING MILLIONS.
I also hear she's 'from the block, yo' so I think that counts for something too in shitland.

So, what else does that mean other than that you can't see what her appeal is? I mean, I don't either, but I don't go around calling her fans idiots.

BECAUSE IT IS A TERRIBLE MOVIE
Seriously, have I been vague in any of this? Just what the hell is going on here?

So, I'm quoting myself now. There are a lot of terrible things, but I noticed that Transformers seemed to be the example of your choice for more than one occasion, the motive for which is what I asked. What you quoted isn't what this exchange has been about, but rather just my expression of loss of interest in further discussion on my part.
(edit) In other words, I'm sorry I asked. Apparently I forgot that it's counterproductive to get in someone's head by asking 'why.'

I think we just use the latest piece of crap as an example Ko0K. I use Transformers as a yardstick for how not to do it fairly often too. I can't think of a recent blockbuster that is as bad. But Stitch you always flip on stuff like this. Give the guy a break ffs.

You never asked me the "whys" behind a position that I actually have.
Anyway:

Exactly.

You mean "flip positions" or "flip out?" I'll agree I can be a bit quick on the trigger, but engaging in conversation with someone who is looking beyond your words with erroneous assumptions--even about something as meaningless as your take on
Transformers--is trying. Missing the point by then replying with comments like "guess a guy can't ask a question around here" doesn't help, either.

I mean flip out.
Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty of flipping out aaaall the time (and certain posters are just so ack I don't think I ever reply to them in a pleasant manner), but I got the feeling that this time Ko0K was just asking because he really thought you had some special issue with Transformers. Scot's comment didn't help because Ko0K doesn't realise that you guys actually have slept together.
Anyway, back to Iron Man. I was discussing this with a friend and we both agree it was quality, and yet also that come on stop the superhero movies already.
There are sooooo many now that it's becoming dull. Especially as the first one is invariably how I becomed supa lol backstory oh I was normal see my chrysalis I blossom cool check out the new Superhero Design Interpretation ya ya ya.

Edit: Iron Man, for real, is coming (on day). Check this out: (

Iron Man was great. Well, maybe not "great" in the true sense of the word, but it was definitely awesome. I usually don't care for superhero/comicbook movies, because usually they suck. And not because of an uber-nerd reaction to any deviance, however minor, from the original mythology, because I don't read comic books, so I don't know any of the original mythology. The problem is usually that they do such a lousy job of explaining the genesis of the characters. Take Fantastic 4 for example. The explanation of the character's back story was so over-the-top and ham-fisted (and loooooong, despite being integrated into the present), that I just couldn't give a flaming, flying fuck about any of them. Sure, Jessica Alba is hot, but if I wanted to turn my brain off, watch a shitty movie, and drool over Alba's ass, I've got Into the Blue for that.
Anyway, back to Iron Man, it didn't suffer from bad back story exposition like that. It's flushed out with actual character development; motive, conflict, realization, etc. Like Batman Begins, it uses the genesis as the plot for most of the movie, and not just some pesky annoyance that they have to present to get it out of the way before they can blow their wad on special effects.
Hellboy was good too. Apart from the flashback and a couple backstory parts (mostly involving the relationship between Hellboy and Selma Blair), they were able to side-step lengthy exposition by presenting the movie from the outside point of view of a newcomer.
As for Transformers, it was good, for a Michael Bay movie. Which means I was able to tolerate it. Enough that I could enjoy the special effects without feeling insulted by the plot and being compelled to bang my head against the wall. Unlike Armageddon, which is insulting to anybody with a semi-rational thought process, and unlike Pearl Harbor, which is insulting to everybody, especially anybody from the WWII era (it's one thing when you make up unbelievable bullshit, it's another when it's about true events in which thousands of people died). At least with Transformers, you can turn your brain off without feeling guilty, because it's not presented as "possible" or "real"; it's about effing space robots. The direction still sucks and gives you epilepsy, the acting is over-the-top, the lines are cheesy and ham-handedly delivered, and it breaks my heart to see John Turturo wasted like that (keep him away from any more Adam Sandler movies too), but I'd turned my brain off entering the theater, so I was able to laugh at a couple of the jokes and enjoy the CGI without feeling betrayed (or Baytrayed). I'm still pissed about Frank Welker's voice talent being snubbed though.
