Be there.
you're welcome

I recommend you connect permanently to the channel. (This usually involves something called a bouncer, but I have no experience with that.) I'm afraid this is a requirement to use IRC sensibly. As it is now, due no overlap in time zones, you are already gone when I want to reply and owing to the nature of the protocol, you won't see what I write while you are gone. 😒
My solution is running the (
https://weechat.org) weechat client in a (
https://byobu.org) byobu session on the always-on entertainment computer at home. I remotely log in to this computer from my home personal computer, my mobile phone, my laptop computer or the computer at work, and I can see what happened while I was "away from keyboard". When I log out, weechat also automatically sets my away status. This solution works very well for me.

I've been thinking about setting up a bot or something to keep the channel "live" permanently - this might be a better solution. I yell at you every time I connect but so far, yeah, time zones have been an enemy.
I honestly didn't expect to relocate #thief at all, I was assuming that the end of Starchat would be the end of TTLG's IRC presence. So this is all very much a last-second, no-plan (and half-assed) process.

This looks like some kinda hippie thing.

Is there an aversion to using the Discord server? It doesn't have the same limitations as IRC.

Discord sucks!
(also, yeah, I've been banned)

OK - that clears that up...

The "it has other, worse" is implied?
