So this is weird. I bet it's a FAQ someplace though. I go in to kill the King of Worms and my sword passes right through him and I can't damage him in any way. I talk to him first, he goes through his whole super villain speech then begins the attack and I can't touch him! Arrows, spells, nothing touches him.
Last time through I was able to kill him easy. This time, I dunno. Must have triggered something wrong. Maybe it's the patch.
So I lead him on a merry chase outside, letting him damage himself falling down the steep slopes until he finally kills himself. Problem solved. But anyone know anything about the whole invulnerability deal?

Did a quick Google and found out two important things:
- Apparently only the Portugese spell Mannimarco with only one n ;)
- It's a noted bug. I haven't been able to discover if it's related to the patch, but I doubt it. What I assume happens is Mannimarco's initial invulnerability (if you attack him from a distance instead of talking to him first, everything just goes through him) doesn't disappear when it should.

Did you speak with the guard outside the cave first or did you just kill him?
First time I went to bash Mannimarco I just killed the guard and Mannimarco was invulnerable. The second time I talked with the guard and Mannimarco was not invulnerable. Both were pre-patch.

I most definitely spoke to the guy waiting outside the cave first, the guy with the key. I didn't attack him until he finished his speech and attacked me. Everyone else inside the cave I just killed. When I approached Man
nimarco he just stood there. Didn't make any move to attack me until I spoke with him, then he went into his speech. He also didn't trigger that weird bone cage like he did when I confronted him the first time I played through the Mage's Guild, he just started chasing after me. Something certainly is not being triggered. Was there someone else *inside* the cave I should have spoken to do you think?

Erm. Sorry to ask, but what did the guy outside the cave say exactly? I just killed him. It was a pretty hard fight, too, at the time.

blah blah, you were expected, blah blah blah, won't get past, blah blah blah, kill you.
4 seconds later: Dead guard.

What WingedKagouti said. All I remember specifically was something about how I'd have to get the key from him if I wanted to get into the cave.

I had the same invulnerable mannimarco glitch, for some reason he remained etheral despite being able to attack me. But what I noticed was he had absolutely no chance of killing me but still he insisted on attacking me with his dagger, I had 20% reflect damage so I was actaully killing him by being attacked by his dagger, I just healed and let him kill himself. A few minutes later when he was down to low health he desided to absorb my health and heal himself so down went my plan. But of course my character is no so easily defeated, Mannimarco had his bases covered, immune to magic, weapons and summons and could heal himself faster than he could kill himself, but just when he thought he had me bet (or in a eternal struggle of immortals) my character reached into his console and typed kill! Hail the new Arch-mage for his quick thinking and bravery in overcoming Mannimarco.
Just on a note, typing kill is so much more satisfying in Oblivion than sethealth 0 was in morrowind, I'm glad they added it.

'course, you could have done what I did and cast Silence on him. My character, having 100% weakness to magicka, learned the value of Silence early on. I can defeat most anyone easily, with the exception of the more powerful spellcasters. I just cast silence, then use a few fireballs (with my Staff of Paralysis interspersed) to finish him off.
Staff of Paralysis > All other Wizard's Staves

Won't work if he bugs out.
He turns (nearly) completely invincible, by virtue of being unable to be affected by anything the player does. Spells and attacks will pass through him without doing anything and AoE effects won't work either. Reflect (Damage or Spell) and environmental damage will work, however.
