I bought the steam version for my birthday,it worked for a while but now it doesnt work and I didn't change anything,here is the error I got.

Do you mean buy the cd hardcopy version if so,that should be no problem,with that because it is really cheap.It uses the same engine have thief 3 and that works fine though that is the disk version.
