-Stash the artifacts you don't use (most of them are a bit useless anyway.)
-Loose the vodka, you already have 15 antirads!
-Suits aren't valuable enough to carry long distances.
-Too much pistol ammo.

Yeah, I might go ahead and cut down to about 40-50 slugs for the pistol. I only use the silenced one every now and then. And I've now cut down on artifacts and antirad items.
As for the armour, never stumbled on that fabled Stalker suit around the starting area, but I've got one on me and two stashed away now.

Only carry the armor your wearing, stash all but 2 of the canned food (or swap out for a few breads) drop the sausage, stash all but 2 anti-rads. Carry 1 blue med kit and 4 or 5 regular ones. Max 25 rounds for the shotty, 50 for the pistol. Drop all the vodka, and stash any artifacts that you're not actually using, then wait for someone to task you to find one.

...should I keep the SMG in case I run out of rounds for the Kalash?
I suppose you might get some mileage out of the silenced SMG if you pick it up, but does anyone honestly use SMGs once they have access to rifles? I think you should ditch it entirely.

I'm with you as far as tossing the food (and almost all of the energy drinks, while he's at it), but only 2 anti-rads?! They weigh almost nothing, and you can easily blow through a half-dozen if you keep messing around in a high-radiation spot (e.g., collecting guns in the Red Forest). I wouldn't call it "overkill" until you're lugging 30+.
As for medkits: they (along with ammo) are top priority as far as I'm concerned. The weight adds up fast, but I'd keep all the 7 military (blue) ones and cut down the regular (red) ones to five or so.
Though, being able to gulp them down like Skittles does cut down on the thrill of "survival," I admit.

The poopy SMG+ammo prolly equals 200 AK rounds so ditch it. Mebbe 10 Antirads, 10 Medkits, 2 food for absolute emergencies (altho you mostly just can eat everything right from fallen enemies and never go hungry) and depending on artifacts maybe 10 bandages (with the stronger antibleeding ones you prolly dont need any). As for weps, wouldnt carry any more than two and never more than two types of ammo. 500 rounds of your main ammo should be enough mostly (except for places like Yantar where ya got a billion bulletsponge zombies...which cant always be knifed :laff:).
Protip : Get the Exoskeleton asap and be rid of weight worries forever :p

Not in AMK
Couldnt say no to carrying 2333 AKs and the superior protection in vanilla either. Still puzzled about the sprinting limitation tho, ok they wanted to give the exosuit a downside (for whatever reason, its not like its honking expensive and unreplaceable in vanilla) but why one which has minute effects in combat and instead doubles the players travel time over boring cleared terrain. Hurr you gots good armor now you must walk longer for punishment.

The downside is so effective that I generally prefer to not use the suit because of it, I only use it in the very last level, past the wish granter. A military suit which costs 160.000 (IIRC) is the best.

Oh right :p
Well it still has appeal for packrats, can mean one slow trip instead of three fast ones. Prolly couldnt bear walking the Bar-Sidorovich distance for a quest reward anymore tho. Hope they find a better solution than enforcing boring walks in Cop
