Dethtoll, out of curiosity, why do you hate Marvel and what makes DC better?
Joe Quesada has pretty much ruined Marvel to the point where almost every single comic they put out is fucking unreadable. Also, Rob Liefeld.
A good example of why I can't stand Marvel is what they did to Spiderman. For starters, ol' Spidey has some of the whiniest characterization in comics. It's nothing but angst angst angst, and this goes for a lot of other Marvel characters too. What makes me sad is that some people thinks this makes Marvel characters more
relatable. I'm sorry, but I like DC's idea that characters should experience a wide range of emotion,
including happiness. Spiderman takes it to extremes, though. He marries a schmokin' hot supermodel and is a Pulitzer-winning photojournalist and is also SPIDERMAN and yet he keeps whining about how shitty luck? He deserves a swift kick in the nuts for that.
But that's not the worst part. The worst part is how they deal with continuity. When DC wants to erase continuity, it's a universe-destroying Crisis. When Marvel wants to erase continuity? Satan. It's asinine.
[Edit: How did I miss this?!]

For anyone following Flash: Rebirth, take a look at Green Lantern: Rebirth and see how the issues match up (hint: previously thought dead villain in yellow makes an unexpected comeback in the 3rd issue) it's a bit annoying. Kyle and Wally 4ever. I really liked the Flash Run by Geoff Johns from about 210 - dealing with all the classic rogues acting in concert with some twists.
Say what? The Reverse Flash is dead. As in 'neck broken' dead. Good lord, he was killed years ago (Barry West, pre Crisis on Infinite Earths). This is why I stopped reading comics years ago, especially superhero tales. :sigh:
The Walking Dead series is a great book to follow. That's all I read now. It's very good. Art and story. Sixty+ issues so far and not one explanation of the what caused the zombie outbreak, only the tale of surviving in such an environment and the psychological trauma that ensues. Pick it up. ;)

Although I enjoy comic book writers like Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore (whose "From Hell" is probably my favorite), I find that Grant Morrison is one of the few writers where I buy not only the trade paperbacks but also the individual issues as they're first released. I think his "Batman" work over the last few years or so have been his strongest writing in years: "Batman & Son", "The Black Glove" and "Batman R.I.P" are totally entertaining, and his new "Batman and Robin" title is also well worth reading.

Well if nobody objects I think I'll also swoop in and semi-hijack the thread, and ask:
What are everyone's opinions on the Spawn comics as a whole? My only experience of the character has been the movie (which I enjoyed), but skimming the Wikipedia entry has interested me and makes me tempted to start reading.
Thoughts?

Don't bother. Todd McFarlane created Image so he could be boring his own way and not the boring Marvel wanted him to be.

A mate passed me over his 6 Volume pack of Brian Bendis Daredevil books.
Holy shit guys. This blows literally everything I've ever read (yes even Watchmen which is still awesome) out of the water. The art, writing, panels, pace - everything is brutally gorgeous.
Highly highly recommended.
Did anyone catch the final Old Man Logan comic? What did you think of the Hulk/Wolverine battle?

New Batman's are good too now that Bruce Wayne is out of the picture.
I love you fonzi, but even if it's good for the Batman comic now, I just have to do this...
*Slaps you in the face with a Batarang a few times for good measure*That is all. Just expressing an opinion, carry on.
:D
Also....to the thread starter: get the rest of Sandman, gets pretty awesome IMHO, later on :)

Personally, I don't read superhero comic books.
Any particular reason to write them all off like that? Like anything else, there's good and bad.
Give Astro City a few issues. You'll probably be surprised.
