I just installed arx, patched to 1.17 and started the game.
I see the credits, then I see some sort of cutscene, some guy in helm/armor and some rat-like thing rushing in the dark behind him from right to left. then the screen goes dark and stays like that.
Only thing that still works is ctrl-alt-del then I see my desktop again, but it doesnt react to anything (neither mouse nor keyboard input) - so I have to reboot at this point.
Edit: I tried some more times. Now I just see jowood logo, some other black/white logo, arx title screen (guy with sword standing in a doorway), loading gauge at the botom of that screen fills up, when its full th screen goes black and I hear some sound (sounds like wind). and that way it stays forever - unless I reboot.
My rig: athlonxp 1800, geforce 2 ti, 256 mb ram
