Hi, I just got Thief: TDP and found that the game hangs whenever I try to play the intro cut scene. I tried all of the suggestions in the tech FAQ and tried different compatibility mode settings, but nothing seems to work. I'm running on a Windows XP S3 machine with an NVIDIA 8600 GT. Please help me.

You tried the compatibility modes after you went through the FAQ, right, not before?
And when you start the game, press alt+Tab, then open the task manager and right-click on the thief.exe, and choose Affinity, it only shows one box checked?

Yeah, I tried compatibility mode before and after I read the FAQ. I also made sure the affinity was set to one core both before and after I read the FAQ.

The indeo codec is in the software registry and I tried both ways of registering in from the FAQ, so that's not the problem. I've also had the affinity set to one CPU core before and after I read the FAQ, and I did try different compatibility modes before and after I read the FAQ.

I just got Thief - The Complete Collection and couldn't get the videos for Thief Gold or Thief 2 to play on XP SP3 with an nVidia 8800GTS and the latest drivers. I stumbled on the solution when I tried installing the (
http://codecguide.com/download_mega.htm) K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, which Saleck suggests doing on (
http://www.saleck.net/Games/Thief1-Gold/Thief-HowToGetWorking.php) his site. When I ran the installer, it had me uninstall some other codec packs that I had installed a long time ago, as well as RealPlayer, and then it suggested restarting. After restarting, the movies worked, even though I hadn't installed the K-Lite codec pack yet. I think the old codec packs were getting used instead of the Indeo codecs. I still used (
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) DDFix to take care of the multi-core problem. Good luck.
