Ahhh, only just noticed Kolya's edit from before:

EDIT: I can see what you're doing there RBJ, arguing on your own behalf.
Actually no, but thanks for trying!
My larger point is exactly as I explained it to steo and is in no way meant to be self-serving:
By limiting variables and exaggerating short bursts of interaction, some patterns are easier to spot, mitigating the disadvantages of text based communication.
It's not really a controversial statement. It applies to a good number of posters and even to other linguistic quirks besides simply sarcasm.
Obviously I'm going to be informed by my own perspective, but if you'd stop reading my posts with your rage-colored glasses, perhaps you'd be able to appreciate the insight I offered instead of getting all pissy about it, imagining some crazy ulterior motive and delusionally pretending that you've "walked all over me."

The irony is that when I first used it, ZylonBane made some inane comment about nonsensical pictures. Completely missing the point, of course.
Making earnest, but off-base, caustic remarks while entirely missing the subtext is his specialty, and why we pay him the big bucks to stick around.
So that's not ironic at all...or it's doubly ironic...or both...or neither...I'm not entirely sure. Can we get Alanis Morissette in here to figure this out for us?

This argument is making my balls hurt. RBJ, your point makes perfect sense. Koyla, you're cool. Everyone wins :erg:

Try not to think with your balls

I tried that one time and almost died of boredom.
Scots Taffer on 30/11/2009 at 23:29
I hope Kolya was punking us all and trying to demonstrate sarcasm that's difficult to detect with his little tirade just now.

You're still talking about individual authors and their idiosyncrasies? Somehow you managed to drop that crucial point in your later posts.
Because if you are, then here's the inside scoop: No one cares for your personal quirks unless you're a really well known author, at least bordering on local fame. To how many people does that apply?
The truth is, everyone's aware of this. Most people who don't post here a lot won't even try to bring in their personality too much because they know they'll receive flak on the way.
It's nice that you want to remedy the shortcomings of text-based communication like that, and I'd love to believe that you are always so very perceptive for anyone's personal ticks. But who are you kidding boy.
PigLick on 1/12/2009 at 00:41
I always thought YOU were one of the 'cool' people kolya.
Rug Burn Junky on 1/12/2009 at 00:52
I am not perceptive enough to comment on Kolya's personal tick of blowing a fuse over my interactions with him.
So I won't.
CCCToad on 1/12/2009 at 01:03
Because the internet takes great interest in the level of sarcasm individual posters on TTLG use.
SubJeff on 1/12/2009 at 01:11
You know I hate saying this Kolya but RBJ is right. Its the same reason we all know ZylonBane for being himself and why when his TTLG status was changed to "ZyloneBane" it made sense. Heck its WHY it was changed. Its also how we know Ko"Ihateeverything"ki and up until not too long ago PigLick (now posting more).
What do these posters have in common? Fairly well entrenched TTLG personae despite not posting as verbosely as you, me, RBJ, SD, Scots, GBM and many others. Its the brevity of the posts coupled with a specific style that is entrenching because the pattern is more easily recognisable. If you can't see/feel that you're not paying attention.
