Schatten basically says all of this already but I only just read his post - (It would be interesting to find out other statistics to compare; what percentage are news sites, forums/message boards, shopping sites.
Because it sounds a bit unlikely in my head but it could just be that pornography is one of the larger single chunks of the net.)
And of course what most people mean when they say it's the most important thing online is that it generates THE MOST MONEY.

Given the vast scope of the internet 12% still seems a monstrously high figure to me.
I'd be curious to see a chart of some sort so this can be compared with what else the nets is used for. I would also like to see how the people who make these things categorise the rest of online content.

More importantly, this actually kinda surprised me, i figgered itd be a bit higher, maybe 14%-19%, but 12.5%? More specifically, do they count Hentai when they talk about porn? You'd be surprised how many people would miss that... :rolleyes: But hell, isnt sex-for-money the 2nd oldest profession (next to assassination)? Basically, it boils down to :: pr0n = $$$
