Hello.
It's great to see SS2 still being supported.
I've been playing PC games since forever and can honestly say SS2 was my favourite gaming experience. Myself and my girlfriend played through the entire thing in co-op in a darkened room, fantastic stuff! I admit you can have better fun with your partner in a darkened room but SS2 came pretty close!
So all these years later we decided to play it through again, we both have our own places so we thought it would be cool to run through it over the net while skyping. I remember that the game has to be saved on both machines so co-op should still work over the net as well as it did on a LAN.
So far so groovy. Trouble is, we just can't get a connection. I'm behind a router so she is hosting but it always fails. I can ping her ip no problem, all firewalls and anti-virus are off, the game runs perfectly well on both machines individually (two copies, xp, no probs whatsoever) but it just won't make a multiplayer connection.
I've read through much of the forum (not all I confess) and so far can't find anything pertinent. I know this could be one of a thousand things (bloody internet gaming!!!Grrrgghh!!) but just before I try the 999 that it isn't, I thought i'd ask if there are any known issues. Anything obvious I should check first?
Thanks for any replies.

You could try (
http://www.hamachi.cc/) Hamachi. It's a program that will set up a network with other computers over an internet connection, simulating a lan. I've never used it, but I've heard of people using it for System Shock 2.
There also used to be a multiplayer guide, but I can't seem to find it.
EDIT: found it: (
