Interesting Q&A from the DX1 Continuity Bible... - by Trancer

Interesting little tidbit from GameSpys Deus Ex article:
Quote:
Who is Alex Denton?GameSpy: The document (the DX1 design doc) describes the difficult cloning procedure used to make J.C. and Paul Denton. What can you tell us about Alex Denton, who was in an incubation tube in Area 51?
Harvey (Smith): We can't talk about Alex Denton at this time.
hmmm, Alex a factor in DX2?
For those who missed it the article can be found (
http://www.gamespy.com/articles/april02/dxbible/) here and is a really nice read.

Migawd. I don't think I understood a half of what was going on the first time I played, and this just proved that I still don't. It's such an intensely philosophical story, and immersive. It should be a book or something. The world, the characters, are all so complex and believeable. Alex is bound to be in the next one. They wouldn't just stick him in there for nothing.
And to think, this could be the world that my kids might grow up in.

If Alex is in the sequel, then that means that the storywriters would have to ignore the New Dark Age ending, because
Alex would have been killed in the explosion.
I agree but it is not absolute. Alex's genome could also be on another computer and his body could be recreated.

Wow! That Gamespy feature is a DX fan's dream! Excerpts from the design document itself.

It is too early to assume anything until we know what the hell they're going to do with the 3 endings...

Alex Denton might very well be the star of the next game ( Codename of " Denton " , name is gender-neutral in keeping with female character choice that has been alluded to )
These design docs are excellent. A very interesting picture of the DX world. There are a few things missing I would've liked to see ( More backround on the actual " legitimate " world governments, how the Illuminati were formed and when, some more character bios (( especially something about Simons - why no mention of him? )) and some other minor details, but still enlightening.
And what about the other two people in the incubation tanks? ( can't remember their names ) nobody seems to notice them.

It were clones of Page and Simons, and incidentally the empty tank is the one you were in. Gotta love that scene... "What's the rush? Take a look around..." :D
