Interesting Animation Info . . . - by ascottk

I'll try megaupload:
(

(can't right right click to copy the download link, kinda stupid)
On a side note, I'm having a major problem with the bow animations:
<embed width="352" height="288" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://v1.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=data39/20/sdgwet&autoStart=false"></embed>

Well, that worked.
Thanks for the re-post.
Now just to work out what to do wiht it :p
It's a bit hard to tell from the video so I'll ask instead:
A) have you changed the bow animations (looks like a new reload, but I might be wrong)?
B) I assume the problem is the timing - it fired after all the anims, right?
(and C - does that anim have any daft notetrack stuff, or is in multiple parts by default that you've combined? Maybe it's looking for a *NOW!* marker, but insteads it's continuing till the end of the anim sequence?)

A) I did not tweak any bow animations. It's a side effect of adding the new ones. It might have to do with the z rotation of the main skeleton, or the animations of garrett_2nd & garrett_3rd (they pretty much have the same names) are different enough so the transitions from 3rd person to 1st person don't step on each other.
In other words: I have no clue why it's doing this & it's pissing me off.
B) The timing has nothing to do with it. When you draw an arrow, the position is thrown to the right. When you move around while the arrow's drawn, then the position gets totally screwed up.
Once again: I have no clue why it's doing this & it's pissing me off.

You added new ones without tweaking old?
Erm.
This may be a really dumb question, but it's not the old set interfering with the new ones is it?
And is there a "Start From Bone" or similar property - if it's only happening when you try to move, maybe it's conflicting with the walk anims.
(just suggestions - I really don't know when it comes to skeles, and you've probably already looked at both, but you know, trying to be helpful here)

Sh*t! I'm still a bit confused . . .
garrett__08_2nd & garrett__08_3rd, garrett__08_nav & garrett_08_3rd_nav, share the same animation names but I think one or the other is used for 3rd person (you'd figure the _3rd refers to 3rd person, but noooo). My tweaked animations are named garrett_09. So I mixed & matched the original animations with the tweaked ones:
garrett_08_2nd with garrett_09_3rd
garrett_08_3rd_nav with garrett_09_nav
F*cking t3 can't find the walking movements in garrett_09_nav!
At least the stupid bow animations work with the mixing & matching. I about had it with this stupid-ass bullshit :tsktsk:

Hey Ascottk.
I know it's frustrating, but don't give up the good work. I think you're the one who knows t3ed the best and you have contributed a lot to the community. Just wanted to bolster you up a bit... (Sry I am not much of a help on this topic)

Have to agree. I really wish I could lend a hand my friend, but you have most certainly left me in the dust on this one. :) I just can't find the time to knuckle down anymore and work things out.

Yeah, this is bugging the hell out of me :p I ended up converting the OM garrett animations so I can learn from them. Here's what I have so far (psa files with identical animations, using the main Garrett bone as a reference):
* Most rotations & positions = 0
* garrett_08_2nd
average z rotation = -90

average z position = 48.178
* garrett_08_3rd - extremely varied
average z rotation = seems to be centered around -107

average z position = 48
* garrett_08_3rd_nav
average z rotation = -130

average z position = 47
* garrett_08_nav
average z rotation = -90

average z position = 48
Just a theory, but it would make sense that third person movements would be the animations based on the -90 z rotation. I'll have to do some testing, but now I documented some of these positions, I have a reference.

An idea from the clueless - have you tried taking the standard animations, exporting them, re-saving them and importing them again? Maybe something is getting lost in translation.
