The one who's able to run faster because of those great mechanical legs or the one who's pure flesh and bones?
Are you really that short sighted that you can only imagine augs that are obvious and take away from a person's natural beauty?
Also - what wa coincidence: (

Try not to be short sighted people, this is only the beginning. You've all read sci-fi stuff I'm sure so open your minds and imagine what could be.

Probably true, but similarly to Papy (maybe for different reasons) I`m not a fan. Apart from obvious and praiseworthy medical uses, plus maybe with some science/engineering thrown in, the rest is gonna be pure grief, like with most things humans lie their lame unaugmented hands on. World is full of assholes, imagine them with superpowers?

Don't worry, I'll save you as soon as I get the heat-vision upgrade.

I`m afraid you live in a bubble sir.
There are limits. On stuff. And I'm not talking about morals.

Let's imagine two girls. Both are beautiful, both are intelligent, funny and kind, but one of them chose to have both her legs cut off and replaced with prosthetics simply because she wanted to run faster and jump higher. So all other things being equal, with which girl will you choose to spend the night with? The one who's able to run faster because of those great mechanical legs or the one who's pure flesh and bones?
Maybe I'm a hippy who live in a bubble, but only the idea of feeling those mechanical legs during sex will turn me off and the fact that she can run fast won't help me at all get in the mood. But hey! I'm sure some people are into that sort of things...
I think you picked a daft example. Nobody is going to spend their hard earned cash on something as frivolous as running faster - except athletes where it will be disallowed for sport. So the market for artificial legs will probably be limited to those who don't have functioning human legs.
The major market for consumer bio-augmentation (by "consumer" I mean not medically necessary) will continue to be driven by the desire to improve physical appearance and sexual performance. In other words, better boob and penis implants, cosmetic surgery, etc.

Until someone has the idea to set up a sporting league where only augmented players are eligible, and we get fuckin' Speedball

I picked the example showed in the video because I thought that was what the discussion was about. I didn't think Subjective Effect meant fake boobs when he used the word "transhuman".
and personally I prefer small breasts. Although AA is too small, A is OK and B is perfect. C is still acceptable but D and over are just ugly.

Sorry, just commenting on the fact that sci-fi geeks and gamers always jump to thinking about the 6 million dollar man or bionic woman when augmentations come up. So far, the market has been cosmetic. Most of us would rather have better sex with hotter people than run real fast and jump over fences and shit. And yeah, I'm with you on size, B = best. Then again, I'm not a bewb man, so not too picky about the size.

Many of the things people express an interest for as body modifications are the sorts of things for which it is infinitely easier to design and infinitely easier to use in the form of an ordinary gadget. Want to see in the dark? Buy night vision goggles, don't go for eye implants that cost 10x more, can't be taken out, and will fuck you over if they rust. Technology and the human body do not mesh well.
There are just too many complications for transhumanism to be at all relevant for the next few decades.

That
is a stupid exmple.
Let's imagine two girls who have had to have their legs amputated. Which one would you rather live with, the one with augmented legs or the wheel-chair bound one?
