Should I patch the game before making copy of Thief3 folder for the editor?
mol on 28/2/2005 at 12:45
Yes, as per the instructions on the first page.
I just got the beast running! Wow. First try, and everything seems to work. Now begins the tough part, learning the ropes.

I was asking because dracflamloc suggested not to patch the game in order to have completely 'clean' install of the editor.
Komag on 28/2/2005 at 16:44
He shouldn't have said that. Go ahead and patch it

I never said not to patch it, i just said it worked fine for me without patching it. By all means patch it, so the AI bugs are fixed.
I just edited my post to make it a little clearer.

Whats DeadLoadery?
A typo. DeadLoader makes it possible to play DeadEd missions in Thief: Deadly Shadows.

Hi. I've been lurking since I bought Thief DS and now the editor has come out I have registered. I need some help here, I've followed the instructions given here to the letter and I still get the victoria error message. Here's the full error message -

That's the error (different from the resolution problem) I got when I was tweaking Mortal Monkey's batch file to fit my paths. I finally had to start over, left the .ibt files in the maps folder, fixed the .bat file just right and finally got it to quit giving me that error. I'm pretty sure that was the one I got when I had the paths setup incorrectly and the editor couldn't find the files where it expected them to be.

I'd recommend using (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=841) dracflamloc's loader, as it modifies the registry keys for you - the manual renaming method is a bit hit-and-miss for some reason. Didn't work for me and it was fine after I used the loader.

It's weird because when I tried to run the game (it was a fresh install) it didn't work, I just kept getting kicked back to the desktop, but when I re-installed into the default directory it worked. Why is this?
I'm assuming it would be silly to hope for a build of the editor that works straight from the moment it's installed.
