Did
Faceless pretty much use this T3 editor (or something very similar) for building TDS levels? Just curious.
Why wouldn't he have ?
What else would he have used ?
Of course the devs would have also used 3DS Max for designing static meshes, which is probably a large part of making an "original" mission, if you don't want it to look too much like the existing game. (By reusing the static meshes from the game)

The thing is, throughout the whole process of editing and messing with textures and meshes and junk, it may be very possible to mess up the basic installation

Yea also you can change the scripting behavior of the default game easily and be totally unaware of the effects.
I was thinking of that too, and sure, if a mission author changes existing scripts (or any existing asset for that matter) instead of creating new ones, they could - but that applies to any editing environment. In theory it shouldn't be too easy to mess up the default setup, or else anyone working with an Unreal-based game (I know, before anyone says it...) should have two installations. If authors do things correctly from the start, there shouldn't be need for worry. If authors do things incorrectly, FleshLoader (or whatever it becomes) will have to overwrite and eventually restore all the changed things anyway.

Well, whatever suits you best. Personally, i think 1.5-2gb extra is a small price to pay in these days of 100-200GB hard drives.

I think it's more for your own protection as the author, to avoid messing up your own play installation, rather than for the end player. So if you're confident that you will be nice to your installation, and if you're tight on HD space, then go for it. :thumb:

this might be related to the install issue. When I try to play the map I builded, I get an error message:
Runtime error!
Program: E:\Thief3 Editor\System\t3main.exe
abnormal program termination
Am I supposed to change the name of the editor install directory to the Thief3 install directory to play the map?

I to am having problums with the editor, they could have made it easier to put on.
I have patched it, made a copy, renamed it, put the zip in there, did the file rename thing with T3main.exe, and tried to use the Thief 3 launcher by dracflamloc.
And all I get is errors.
What can I do to get this to work? I loved working with droomed since I found The Keep of Metal and Gold.
If any of you have found a easy way of getting it to run I would like to know. I don't have to play the game, I just want the editor on this, but if I can have both then that would be great.

What errors are you getting, what OS are you running, are you running with administrator privelages?

If you are using my launcher then no you do not rename the directory. Have you followed the instructions I posted earlier?
I recommend you delete you thief directory and start all over again. Do not patch the game until after the editor is installed in its own directory. Keep things as clean as possible.
Is there any more data you can give than "abnormal termination"?
Are you running with administrator privelages?

Nevermind my problem. I just had to readd the files that I deleted from the maps folder.

Oh, glad to hear its working!
