Hello, I manually installed the patched thief2.exe and ddfix, and when I run thief2, it asks for directx 7. I have read the DDfix faq, and I do have ddfix.dll in my thief 2 directory, so what's the problem?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have the same problem with the following specs:
64-bit Vista, 9800GT
I suspect that it has something to do with 64 bit, are you running 64 bit Vista too?
EDIT: Never mind, my problem was eventually resolved by changing compatibility mode to win 2000.

Have you tried running the game as Administrator?
