I've wanted to re-play SS2, so I'm trying to install in on my computer (Windows XP SP3). When I click "install" from the autoplay or open setup.exe, nothing happens--not even an error message. I've played SS2 on this computer before, but I don't remember if I had to do anything special to get it to work.
I've tried the -lgntforce command, but it still doesn't work. Any other suggestions?
Any help is appreciated!

SS2 never gave me a problem. But I remember that with Thief 2 which is the same engine that I used the same command you did. Then I walked away for like 20 minutes and it was up when I came back. Its in the faqs too. Maybe this will work for you?

I ran setup -lgntforce and left the computer alone for an hour, but it still didn't work.
Thanks for the suggestion though, Stingm. Are there any other ideas?

Try to run setup in the "Windows 95/98 compatibility mode."

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already tried opening setup.exe in compatibility mode, safe mode, but it still doesn't work. I've also reinstalled my drivers for installshield.

MoroseTroll: I've never had problems with this computer, but you may be right. I'll clean up my PC (virus scan, disk check, registry repair, defrag) and try again. Thanks for the link.
