Just checking that I actually did install the patch correctly. I dl'ed the patch. To a folder (silly me) then moved the patch to the desktop. When I double-click the patch, nothing happens. This is normal? And the patch is installed correctly? Just installed the PC game tonight (have been playing the xbox version) and just after I created my new fem char, the game crashed. So I immediately went for the patch.
To tag onto these questions...is this the same process for the plug-ins? Do they automatically (if that's what the patch did) install themselves or is there a process for them?
Thanks for all the help you can provide to a comp dummy.

The patch should run from the desktop (after all it's just another folder). If it did nothing at all when you double clicked on it then it didn't work. Try downloading it again. Also to check what version of the game you are running (To make sure it's been patched) when on the menu screen, it should say thegame version in the lower left hand corner. With the patch is should read v1.2.0722
The plugins (which are usually in zip files) have to be unzipped to the \Morrowind\Data Files folder. To use them in the game, start the game and choose Data Files on the splash screen. You will get a list of the plugins you installed, double click on the ones you want to use, a little X will appear in the box next to it. That's it, start the game proper and the plugins will be in use. To uninstall them from the game, do the same again and then move/delete the files from the Data folder.

re plug-ins 'how to', assuming you've installed it, open the editor &
hit "File"
then hit "Data Files".
put a check next to morrowind.esm
put a check next to ONE plug-in (double click)
select 'set as active'
hit ok
when it says - Done! hit file/save
uncheck the plug-in just saved & repeat the process for ea plug-in

Hrm... or if you were asking how to load plugins into the game, unzip them into your 'Morrowind\Data Files' directory. Then start the launcher (morrowindLauncher.exe IIRC), and select the 'Data Files' option. Tag what plugins you want to use, hit OK, and then either start the game from there or hit 'exit' and use a NOCD crack (which is what I do, for the extra performance)
