When I was very young, I had the kids' story-book version, and there were stills from the movie as photographic illustrations ... it included images from these scenes. And I often got confused what was in the movie and what was in the story-book. I always knew Luke's friend Biggs was introduced very early on, but it was from my memory of the book not the movie. By the way, there are similar missing scenes in the story-book for Indiana Jones as well, iirc.

Knew it would be common knowledge here, completily new to me. This very bizar to watch, I grew up with Starwars and the thought that at one point scenes were cut I for some reason never considered. I am not your father moment :p

While on the subject of Star Wars, can someone explain, for a character that was only on screen for about 30 seconds, why Wedge is so popular?
Wedge saves Luke's ass before Luke goes on to save the rebels and subsequently the entire galaxy.
So, in effect, Wedge saves the entire galaxy.
...
Personally, I like Wedge because I suddenly realized while watching Return of the Jedi one day, "hey, that guy is in all the movies isn't he?" *goes back and looks "huh, yep".
