While I enjoy The Last Crusade, I do see most of the criticism levelled at the film. It does feel like a retread of Raiders of the Lost Ark in so many ways, and I pretty much hate what the film did with Marcus Brody and Sallah, even though I saw this film way before I got around to watching Raiders. You can have fun with characters without turning them into one-dimensional jokes.
As far as I'm concerned, Temple of Doom has some of the best setpieces, but the bits never come together into a film that I actually like. The stuff between the setpieces is simply too grating for me.

So my brother went to see the movie the other day, I have yet to see it... When he got out of the theatre, he asked me, "What's the one thing you would NEVER expect to see in an Indiana Jones movie?" I didn't even take a moment to think before I replied, "A spaceship!"...
He said "YEP, there's spaceships and aliens and shit!"
WTF WTF WTF
Seriously guys, seriously... WTF. Take an OLD ASS action star, mix him with some aliens, HYPE HYPE HYPE, and EVERYONE want's to see it!???
I don't... i guess I'm just cool like that.

HEY GUYS I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET BUT I'M PISSED THAT YOUR IN HERE TALKING ABOUT IT AND I READ IT AND NOW YOUVE RUINED EVERYTHING.
I love all the comments here like: This Indy film SUCKED! It was NOTHING like the originals. Btw I hated the ending of Raiders, Doom was ass, and Crusade was a Raiders rehash... ?????????????
I'm not that smart guys, but have you considered that maybe you just don't like these films but want to participate in the conversation anyway?

I only repeated something that was already said... I just thought it was pretty funny that my first guess was right...
I have yet to see it so I can't make an opinion yet... But if I was to based on the fact that it has aliens, I would say they were just using the indiana Jones name to make some money because they haven't come out with a decent movie in a while, though that is probably 0% true because I don't even know who made this movie...

It's possible to enjoy a movie while acknowledging its weeaknesses, you know. Even a pale rehash of a great movie can be entertaining. And Raiders is a flawless b-movie. Flawless, you hear me?! And I don't even like Spielberg that much. Even the ending works, as a cool ironic twist. (Last Crusade fizzles and dies pretty badly, however.) All that effort accomplished nothing. The end result would've been the same if he'd just gone off to a bar for some drinks instead.
You can only pull that trick once though.
Anyway, after thinking some more on it, I don't think it was ever possible for them to make a movie that'd satisfied me as an
Indiana Jones movie while acknowledging the passage of time. For me, the character is very much a slightly morally dubius dashing everyman (Shut up. He
is and I don't care if it's an oxymoron.) rooted in the thirties, before colonialism had completely gone the way of the dodo, and the line between archeology and looting was very thin indeed. A-Bombs, aliens and the red-scare all go with very well the with fifties setting, but the character doesn't.
Of course, none of that excuses the terrible script, missing internal logic, under-used and superfluous characters, and general lack of wit, imagination and suspense that make Crystal Skull a bad movie in its own right.

I like the part where they smash up and deface the monument to pour all the sand out.
