I need to see it a second time but my original impressions was...meh. I don't mind another one, but IV was nothing special compared to the other three. I didn't mind the plot so much, but the way Lucas throws in ridiculous things like broadway numbers (Return of the Jedi), Tarzan references (Ep. III, Indy IV), and stupid, immersion busting comments ("I don't care what universe you're from, that's gotta hurt" - Ep. 1), is a real deal breaker anymore. Stop winking at me with this shit or I'll poke your eye out with a bantha turd.

Indy 4 was the worse film ever. Terminator 4 is a cult classic in comparison. Episodes 1,2 and 3 were oscar nominees in comparison. It was painful to watch. So, so painful.
Oh, and the CGI was very 2001. And by that I mean fake and naff and just bad. I wish I had a nice thing to say about it because I so wanted it to be good. Love the other 3 and was really looking forward to it.
Indy 5 will be better I think because you really cannot get worse. In fact if Indy 5 is worse than Indy 4 it will be a sign that Armageddon is coming.

maybe they do a thing about the pyramids being landing platforms for flying saucers.
I actually liked
Stargate for a really dim popcorn muncher; though
Return of the Killer Tomatoes ranks right up there in my book, as well.
And to be perfectly honest I had a good time watching
Indy the 4th: Return of the Jones for the nonsense it was, but I think it was because I never had high expectations for it in the first place and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't an utter disaster (barring bad-science and all).

The warning bells for Indy 4 went off when they dumped the Frank Darabont script for one written by David IneptKoepp really.

Well if you were Lucas and had your choice between an Academy Award nominee (okay, so he's not that great, but...) and the genius behind Panic Room, it's no brainer.
(EDIT)
Holyshit! I didn't know Darabont is tryng to do a re-make of Fahrenheit 451.

I'm a huge Indy fan, so I'm always up for a new Indy film. If it's bad, I have no problem simply discarding it mentally. But just the chance for a Indy flick as good as the first three, I'm there. More Jones! Here's my wishlist:
Same old Ford.
Better script.
Less CGI.
Less Karen Allen (she was hot once, but I don't want to see the old version).
Better, more interesting, and less cliched villain.
No aliens.
Less Shia LaBeouf (if possible, not likely).
More Sallah.
(I think both Jones Sr. and Marcus died, right?)

Marcus died and Jones Sr. is retired. The problem with ditching either Lebouf or Allen at this point is that they became a family in the last film. Just what I wanted for Indy. A two-car garage and a lazy boy in suburbia.
Didn't someone say it was better to burn out than fade away? :(

TheBeef is turning into the next Ben Affleck, only without the credibility.

Or the chin.

To be honest, I don't think that Shia was bad. His character was unnecessary, but I don't think it's fair to blame the actor for that. He did well enough with wobbly material IMO.
