In a World, where One Man voiced all the movie trailers... - by Tonamel

Oh crap. :(
Him and Hal Douglas were - well, Douglas still is, as far as I know - the most recognizable voices in the business.
Too bad. He was more than just a trailer voice, he had an impact in the pop culture. (

Ashton Smith, another voice over artist said of him: "When you die, the voice you hear in heaven is not Don's. It's God trying to sound like Don. I wish he'd quit his day job..."
Well - now, the voice you hear in heaven is Don's.

Bizarre. Was just watching "The Voice" youtube last week as a matter of sheer coincidence, seemed like a really personable guy and I genuinely feel sorry for the loss.
THIS SUMMER indeed.

I'm shattered. I loved that guy. You could do a 3 hour movie of a guy sipping tea reading the paper, and Don would make it sound exciting. I read that he could literally do 100+ jobs a day. One thing I could always count on at the theater would be a trailer for a crappy movie I'll never see, but I would always enjoy his voice making it sound better that it could ever be. I loved it, even if nobody else understood why I was laughing.
I'll miss The Voice.:(

Loved his self-spoof in the Geico commercial.

R.I.P. Movietrailervoiceguy :(
And as if that wasn't enough, another one of the greats bit the dust two days ago. Co-star in Smokey and the Bandit 1 & 2, star of Smokey and the Bandit 3, chronicler of the life of Amos Moses and all around good ol' boy Jerry Reed died, aged 71.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnRwQjTYfGI) We've got a looong way to go and a short time to get there...Keep on truckin', Snowman. :(
