Definitely the middle one, I'd say. Does this mean the end goal is to replace all the stock objects?

It always was. But that doesn't mean I'm going to do that.
I've done most of the "easy" models, and most of the things which are left are somehow "awkward" and I don't want to do them, so it's someone else's turn now.
For example, the crystals and the arrows that use them. They badly need replacing, but looking at for example the fire crystal I see that the original is made by an odd texture that doesn't really fit, but somehow works in the case of the original because it's so low resolution that you can't really see what it is - yet this bizarre choice of texture is now the iconic appearance of the fire crystal, so a replacement needs to a) look like a fire crystal but b) still look sufficiently like the original.
I know Targa has made replacement arrows before, but they certainly didn't meet requirement b (plus, for some reason he thought the arrow shafts should be the same colour as the crystal, instead of being made of wood).

Plain version:
Could use some rough leather effects just like the original. ZB's reference image is probably what LGS had in mind back then for pagan tome.
I think the glass should be very smooth and polished as these are rather rare or expensive potions. Original potions always reminded me of simple round beakers aka (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-bottom_flask) round-bottom flask.
That new rust texture has very good colors but it could maybe use some rough rust effects. Some cheap noise effects could do the job quickly.

Jeez, people are picky picky....:p

I agree with nicked... the old one was red, and seemed out of place in comparison to the original book. Anyhow, what's with these images all of a sudden NV? Are you planning on updating the EP again? Teasing me with these images only makes me want to see them in game now.:cheeky:

I vote for frosted.

This is far truer to the original models, but I don't like it as much:
Maybe some sort of environmental texture effect could work here. Something I did for the EP green wine bottle texture for example. Or maybe tone down the frost effect. Still, both variants look better than the original so nothing to complain there :).

Just some good old constructive critisism ;).

Definitely this version, they look great.

The original model looks like it has a cork stopper (which would certainly be more sensible for something that's laying partially on its side).

A lot of the objects that still need improvement are somewhat outside of my range of skills, either because their textures need to be made by hand (I can mostly only make textures by modifying existing images), or because they need some very complex modelling and texturing done in unison.
So, here's a list of some of these "awkward" textures and models, in case someone with the skills to make really good quality versions of these feels like volunteering.
Textures only
* The textures for the fancy gold chairs found in Bafford's manor: CHRGFRT.gif / CHRGCUS.gif / CHRGLEG.gif
* The street signs used in city missions: WMARMH.gif / WMBAK.gif / WMDIARY.gif / WMMACH.gif / WMMEAT.gif / WMPAWN.gif / WMPSYHIC.gif / WMPUB.gif / WMVEG.gif / WMWEAP.gif
* The banners, mainly BANNER1.gif / BANNER2.gif / BANNER8.gif / BANNER9.gif / BANNER12.gif / RBANNER1.gif
* The rough bedding: BEDDING7.gif / BEDDING8.gif
* Lord Bafford's throne: BTHRONE.gif / BAFARM.gif / BAFSEAT.gif
* Sarcophagus and tomb fixtures: TOMB1.gif / TOMB2.gif / TOMB3.gif / TOMB4.gif / GTOMB2.gif / GTOMBC.gif
Models (and textures)
Thief 1 trees: tree01.bin / tree02.bin / tree03.bin
Thief 1 bushes: bush01.bin / bush02.bin / bush03.bin / bush04.bin / bush05.bin / bush06.bin
Statues: dstat1.bin / dstat4.bin / gargoy.bin / mage.bin / craygod.bin / lcstat2.bin
If anyone does decide to make any of these and send me the products, I'll include them in a new release of the EP. I'd appreciate high-resolution versions of the source images, e.g. 1024x1024 as well as the 256x256 versions, as I have plans to eventually release a high-resolution EP using DDFix's texture override feature.
