That's beautiful. You really managed to capture the essence of the original, while making it on the whole much more valuable looking.
As you know, the better things get, the more susceptible they can become to nitpicking. As for this, the face on the jar looks altogether far too happy. I don't remember the exact appearance of the original object, but do you suppose a more neutral expression would be more appropriate? He looks like such a kind hearted friendly sort of organ holding jar.

Anyway, NV, I assume you're taking measures to insure the new EP doesn't use very many palettes? I recall that with the older Beta, authors who used it sometimes started running out of palettes (although it could be unrelated).
I started getting the palette error immediately after installing the EPBeta.

happy.I second this. The first thing I thought when I saw that jar was that the face looked oddly friendly in an out-of-place sort of way. Definitely out of character for a piece of loot you'd expect to find in a Lost City tomb.
Apart from that, though, I think it's very well done. :)

Egyptian funerary goods were sort of designed to represent the person in the afterlife, and the funerary goods / custom from the Lost City are obviously based on that. Maybe they wanted his organs to be happy in the afterlife? ;)
Also, if you do a search for pictures of canopic jars, they don't usually look depressed. Most seem to either have a bland expression, or be smiling slightly.

Besides, I think that won't be THAT visible in game, unless you zoom with the clockwork eye. ;)

I imagine it may look rather strange to see these wonderful new objects on the old textures. Is there a possibility to improve them without reskinning all the levels? I know there have been threads about this, but apparently there has been no real success.

Reskinning the entire levels is an issue with texture size. Increasing a texture to maximum res would cause it to assume the new size in the missions, thus throwing everything out of alignment.

And actually, once you've got some good replacement textures for every single material (stone, glass, tile, etc), the only important thing in texture apparence is lighting. You can even get awesome results with perfect lighting and poor textures. ;)

So this means it will look a little strange. :erg: Well, I'm looking forward to the release anyway.
