My opinion:
Start with the original concept as seen in the
movies, then "modernize" them. Show a technological growth. Maybe more compact, two lenses on opposite "poles", so that no matter how it would land "in real life" at least one lens is open to the space it's been tossed in. Show activation switches for arming them. The red light can be on for the toss, the red light off when resting on a shelf, table, in a crate, etc., or in the player's inventory.

It looks to be made of tough materials? Might the "spent shell" get left behind, useless and burnt out, then fade away/crumble after a time?)

I'm pretty sure that's a scouting orb, not a flashbomb.

Except the red light blinks, the electricity arcs, then it flashes. Plus Garrett throws it down, almost straight down.:cheeky:
TMA intro.

And the FB also has a lens. Schwaa's one has even two lenses. ;)
Digital Nightfall on 28/8/2007 at 21:47
Where can I see Schwaa's flashbomb?
Actually it doesn't make sense for a flashbomb to have ANY lenses. It's not a camera!

Oh yeah. And the lenses might throw the light out at nearly 360-degrees. I think the flashbomb design suggests reusability: hard case, beat-up, electronic... ideas that were used in-game for the scouting orb. I understand it's easier to have the flashbombs disappear, and it's more challenging to the player, less useless objects for the engine to think about, or for the player to pick back up, etc.

I think I got all my improved objects into TTLG (The Tiny Lost Goalset)
(or was that Thru the Looking Glass? Can't remember :D I think it's up at thiefmissions)
flashbomb (actually has a lens, not a texture lens), mines, scouting orb? ect...

Hey, yeah! A more accurate rendering, for sure.:thumb:
