I was just getting the hang of it. I got my char up to lvl 9, and BAM! My motherboard fried. The sad thing was it took a month for it to happen. 3 weeks of jumpstarting, 4days of a blown IDE controler. Now one week to get the parts shipped. Total cost: 242$ That includes: 250watt PS, ABIT NVR7-133R Mobo, AMD Duron 1.4ghz CPU, Heatsink, 128mb 2100 DDR Ram. I would have bought a faster proc, and more ram, but I am left with 50$ in the bank, with little job to speak of. :-).
On the plus side, My comp will be 2x speed of previous system. (700mhz AMD Athlon(Slot-A, that's why it was replaced) and 320mb PC133 RAM(I'm not looking forward to dropping 192mb RAM).) That should run Morrowind a bit faster:-) Although, no new videocard, I do have NForce! :-). No telling how that will add to the performance. Ah, what's two weeks with an unoperational computer eh?
BTW. This is an old 200mhz system with 64mb EDO I'm running. And its not even mine!:o

Poor fellow, you have my sympathies. I had to buy a new computer to run Morrowind, as our old one wasn't up to the task. Of course I needed a new PC for lots of other things as well.....
Hope your new machine gets the job done. Let us know how you get on once you've restarted your game.....

Grats on the upgrade, even though what created the need was lamentable :p Btw, if you start getting odd issues w/ the new setup, you might consider upgrading the power supply to a 300 watt; 250 can't always cut it for a power-gamer's PC these days, IMO.

Hey, It's all set up! Pluss I had to buy a ne vid card, ATI Raedeon 7000! :D
One hitch, my onboard audio (ALC650 256 voices, 6 channel DAC, surround sound) won't work with mp3's! AHH! On top of that, the new drivers cause a system error on boot! Oh well back to the old (realy old) SB PCI 512. :(
But the sys runs Morrowing great at 800x600, just a little sluggish at the next up. Before I had trouble with 800x600, and had to up the arpeture in the morrowind.ini. But I can't do that now, because I only have 128mb:eww:
Ah oh well. The game runs, I am happy.
