And if you begin telling people on the internet to go and kill themselves you may be in need of some existential experiences like leaving your room.

If existentialism makes you want to kill yourself
It doesn't. I'll just quickly point out that I was talking about Nausea. Have you read it? You're confusing existentialism with existentialist books. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are doing this intentionally, for a quick cheap lol.
I'll expand. Out of all I have read, Nausea is one of the three least life-affirming novels I've ever come across. If we have to make the wikipedia-style academic link you drew between existentialism and Sartre, I'll oblige. I think that Camus is life-affirming; Dostoevsky is life-affirming. Kierkegaard can be, sometimes. Jean-Paul Sartre's most viciously miserable piece of work isn't. I wouldn't give that book to anyone with even slightly depressive tendencies. However, if someone said they felt like heavily undermining themselves and shattering any positive and/or naive beliefs they had about the world and that they were
just too happy and needed a good smack around the chops from some quarter, I would recommend Nausea. If you don't feel that way about Nausea, then you must have been at a particularly chirpy stage in your life for it to leave you 'unphased.' Either that, or you didn't understand it. Which I find unlikely, because one of the things that struck me about it was that even subliterates would have some chance of piecing it together.

I didn't write the book in question - shock horror. And if you begin telling people on the internet that they may be in need of some existential experiences like leaving one's room, perhaps we should have a gander at your posts per day and your huge boner for video games. :thumb:

Completely off-topic: People have various different opinions about this, and I'm curious to hear what you think. When talking about a person, what is the he in him? The subconscious is his, right? But it's not him? Is it the consciousness that is him, then? This brings me to my next question: Do you believe that our consciousness is something metaphysical, like a spirit? Or just an illusion generated by our brain?
Could anyone tell me, when does a standard human start to see his uncounscious mind more clearly? Atleast for me, i'm 15, i think i'm seeing deeper into it now. I see and except every other opinion, even if some of them piss me off. And so on... ALOT deeper. Seemed shallow, don'cha think?
What about others here?
oh and thief0 is probably 12-14 years old, although it's hard to tell. I never was that idiotic. Although humanity is pretty pathetic, there are also enough people like you, who are worth spending time to. Hmm, think i heard this in Doctor Who: "There is little good in the world. BUT... it's worth to fight for." And there you have it - pretty much true.

Dr Who quotes and amateur self-analysis, woo hoo. Hey Thor, on your 21st birthday an angel turns up and takes you a horrible guided tour of your sub-concious (actually, this is broadly true if you replace 'angel' with 'a lot of booze').
Heres a hint - its interested in sex and food.
