Aja - I've been poking at Stars of the Lid since Noid made a thread about it (same as Boards of Canada :)). I -love- Tired Sounds of...as for Zappa, I've -always- been curious to hear what's all the fuzz about the man :). Have some of the albums you've mentioned (pirated), like Balckwater Park, excellent stuff. Hmmm...have heard of Captain Beefheart, will peek at it. And yes, I know Radiohead's a must ;). Cheers!
Nicker - Ooooer....will take a look at those too. Brian Eno....name sounds v.familiar...¬¬
Ton - I think the proper translation to the book then must be 1001 Albums To Listen For Before You Die, I think. Good stuff. Then again, that other book -does- seem to be pretty complete....damn...
raph - Loving Miles Davis, adore Coltrane....ah!!!
Magpie - Thanks :):):), always feel like learning about this stuff at the forums.
Stitch - I want you to keep doing what you just did, nothing more, nothing less. You're doing great. Thanks for the suggestions, keep'em coming, plz :)
dethtoll - Pain of Salvation?
Again, much kudos to you all. Thanks :)
More, plz.

Rammstein- Sehnsucht
Def Leopard- Pyromania
The Allan Parsons Project- I Robot
Billy Joel- The Stranger
And I second Fett, Van Halen- Van Halen. Things get so repeated you forget why they were popular and never want to hear them again but then one day you hear Eruption again and remember. Eddies sound was unique. It's like Hendrix guitar was but you hear it so often your brain shuts it out. But they were a thing never before once upon a time. I can no more deny them than The Beatles. Wouldn't want to.

Paul Simon - Graceland
Also David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust (or/and Aladdin Sane for the glam). Hunky Dory is also good. Then Low, "Heroes", Lodger (all with Eno, Heroes has Robert Fripp), Let's Dance (it's good fun), Diamond Dogs (it's pretentious wank but has a couple of moments)... Bowie's a bit off and on really, that's why I think the best starting place is Ziggy. You may find some love for Station to Station.
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (where is Paz?)
I'd recommend a bit of Nick Cave too, but there's such a lot you may be best off buying the best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, to see if you like it.
If you've never tried it, there's just been a Smiths best-of released, but for a strong album I'd recommend The Queen is Dead.
Eric Clapton - Layla and other love songs
Some Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers is good going.

Always nice to see the suggestions keep on flowing. Send more if you will it, plz.
Tocky - What kind of music would you put Rammstein into? Whom does Van Halen resemble?, just to get an idea what his music's like :)
Fingernail - I do have Let It Bleed, pirated, great album, but you're right, I need more Rolling Stones. Heard a lot about Eric Clapton too, will check him out. And it seems Brian Eno's a must since everybody mentions him :)
And what a coincidence...I plan on going today to the music store, bwah!
:D

This week-end, I bought Van Morrison's Moondance and Neil Young's Live at Massey Hall, I think you might like those.
Mr.Duck on 17/11/2008 at 16:16
Would you reccomend Nick Cave's latest?
I have (pirated...I know...shush) Nocturama and No More Shall We Part and I've enjoyed'em quite a bit.
:)

You should hit up allmusic.com to read up on some of the artists you're unfamiliar with.
They have overviews of artists and albums, categorization by genre and similar artists.

Turtlesoup - Much thanks for the link, man. Will check it out :)
So, as I mentioned on my last post, went to the store today, bought me 3 CDs:
* The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
* The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed.
* Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon.
*Deletes illegal downloaded albums to replace with originals*
Yes, I do feel cleaner now
I do wonder why the store has quite a number of japanese imports on such albums (and more expensive, geez...).
Also, I am just listening often to 21st Century Schizoid Man In Mirrors...srlsy...¬¬

Terrible band. I've never been so utterly bored by an album until I heard these guys. They're a very good example of prog gone wrong. My usual beef with prog bands is too much technical skill not enough actual songwriting. (For the record, I'd probably listen to Dream Theater in spite of this, if not for James Labrie.) Pain of
Shitting tries
too hard to be artsy and emotional and end up falling flat. Their albums are basically good, listenable sections of music that last for a few minutes before being drowned in 3 inches of muddy water by conceptual wankery. Fuck Pain of Salvation. They had to start using nu-metal elements to make their music halfway interesting and it's
still fucking boring. Their music is absolutely excruciating to listen to, you simply have to hear it to believe it. I think I wouldn't detest it so much if not for the thousands of pretentious prog fans stroking their neckbeards approvingly as they wank about this fucking band. They just make an already-bad band that much worse.
And the new Opeth sounds exactly like Pain of Salvation. I'd never been so pissed about an album by a band I
like.

Buy the Silent Hill soundtracks by Akira Yamaoka. Silent Hill 1+2's OSTs especially feel very progressive-esque.
