Just initial enthusiast, but it faded away.

Closing gates has got to be one of the most tedious aspects of Oblivion. Lifelessness is the other.
Thank heavens for Jeremy's music or I wouldn't have made it through... Wait, I've never finished the game. Oblivion's probably one of the few games in which I didn't finish once started. :laff:

I don't know.. to me, the final battle of Martin vs Mehrunes Dagon was worth playing.
On the other hand, I am a kind of person who never skips cinematics^^

I found the final battle very short and not at all interesting. The battle outside Bruma was more of a fight.

I am 100% with steo. I was like, WTF? I had a nice bow/arrow equipped. I wanted to at LEAST shoot once. :erm: but noooo. Now I gotta go finish the other quests, and wait to get that prize. :tsktsk:

I've enjoyed playing Oblivion tremendously; especially once I discovered how to take a few shortcuts which seem to cut back on the tedium of plodding along all over the map to get where you're going. And, I did add a few mods and learn how to use the console, but try to keep my console usage down to a minimum.
The only thing that disappointed me about the main quest end-game was the fact that all the movement, sound, & extra NPCs, etc. seriously bogged down my PC, so I couldn't really enjoy the final battle to the fullest. But I've since found a site that has a lot of tweaks for that kind of problem and am considering using the tweaks then going back & restarting the game. I've added two companion mods (Aragorn & Legolas) and even though it's great fun having them accompany me throughout various smaller quests (I've played Shivering Isles & Knights of the Nine, as well as the first official mod, Fighter's Stronghold - which was rather short and boring), I'm finding that I'd rather leave them home now & then because they intervene so well during confrontations that there's hardly any 'baddies' left for me to kill.
Another reason I'd like to re-start the main quest is because I finished it before I could visit a lot of the other 'untargeted' gates. After closing a few of those gates on my own, I realized that all the fighting was increasing my levels more quickly than just strictly adhering to the main quest.
