Better. I have no arguement with your restated postition.
As for budget cards, that's business as usual. Automobiles, are a good example. Same car, same model, supposedly different manufacturer when we all know its the same beast.
And, as far as I know, no onboard chip has yet to equal, let alone surpass, a plugin card.
Some onboard chips are better than others, but a add-on card is nearly always a better solution whether it be sound or video.

I FINALLY GOT MY AUDIGY2 :D
the atmosphere is amazing, but i think that the have too much echo, i wonder if there's a way to adjust the eax via drivers/control panel
