Hello,
If you can run Thief 1/2 with Sound Acceleration and EAX ON in Windows XP and the sounds sound correctly (your foot steps are not 5x quieter)
Please let me know what hardware you are using.

Any other Audigy owners agree?
I'm guessing it's any audigy prior to the x-fi

Pre-X-Fi Audigy Advanced MB, EAX sounds bad, had to download a file to even make the option available in the menu. So no. :(

So NO on audigy 1, anyone else with audigy 2?
I'd really love to play the game with EAX on - the ambient is amazing with it on!
But I'd like the sound of my footsteps not muffled through a pillow

God I'd love to see (hear!) a breakthrough on this. I was happy the fix gave me the EAX option back, but the muffling killed that joy.

What's wrong with the footsteps? Sounds good on my X-Fi with EAX enabled.

Sooo...the X-Fi works for you with XP? Coolness. I take it you've never heard what bad EAX does to Thief, then? Congratulations...seriously. It's an instant bummer. It sounds like the volume has dropped way down, and all you can hear is a lot of quiet reverberation with a wee bit of the source sound.:nono:

Xfi xtreme music

so you're confirming than thief's hardware acceleration, with eax, working properly and sounding properly, works with
xfi xtreme music and audigy 2
One of the first things I've tried.
Didnt work on my old system with my turtle beach, doesnt work now with intergrated soundmax
