HERE'S THE UPDATE!!

So after my local cardiologist conferred with my cardio guy at Tufts in Boston today, they agree that my condition has worsened (or at least changed) recently. Therefore, I am going back to Tufts New England Medical center in Boston sometime in the next 6-8 weeks because the medication I've been on for the last 9 years isn't doing the job anymore. I have been to Tufts before and the world's leading expert on my heart condition (HCM) is in residence there. They have a specialized clinic for diagnosis and treatment of HCM. The goal is a new course of treatment, which could involve anything from changing medicine to possible heart surgery, but we won't know until we do some more tests - I'll keep you updated. (Any ttlger's in the Boston area??)

Christie's one year contract with her current employer here in Arkansas expires in June. If we need to be in Boston for a protracted period of time, she will try to take a temporary nursing position in a Boston-Metro area hospital for 3-6 months. This would allow the Dr.'s there to observe me during medication changes or perform surgery there if necessary (and the guy there is hinting heavily that I may need serious, invasive surgery). But the HCM team at Tufts is tha shit; specifically trained in dealing with my type of problem, so I'm confident we'll come up with a solution to get me back into fighting form as soon as possible. Financially, this sucks big time since we're just *finally* getting on our feet again after years of financial stupidity (read: investing in ministry).

Well it aint the way I would want you to see Boston but it will do. Think of it as an adventure, a boot camp root canal rolled in an alley sort but you might get to see some interesting stuff in between heart rapes right? Always look on the bright side of life. And keep us posted, with pictures if you can. I think they frown on flash during surgery though. They are strict like that.

Okay - appointment is set for mid-may. Heart MRI, Stress Echo, and consultation with the leading Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy guy in the known world. Plus, Boston. I fucking LOVE Boston. Found two round trip tickets and a hotel for $600, but I need to try Priceline closer to the date. I feel much better just having everything set up.
