because that means the game is not a complete failure

History repeats itself. Many of us said the exact same thing during the development of T3. lol

Yeah, it was hard not to turn the frown upside down during T3 development though. The devs would come and speak to us on the forums, mostly to assure us it would be a great game and that we would love it, but it was a kind gesture all the same. lol Then they would unleash Jeremy "Faceless" Graves for a rap battle with all those willing to challenge his lyrical prowess! I was a fool to have even tried.

I was commenting on the second half of her statement. History repeats itself in that there is the side that remains confident and hopeful, while the other side has misgivings. Prior to T3's release I remained confident and hopeful, which didn't really pan out. Seeing similar marketing speak this time out so I'm not really feeling all that optimistic this time out.

Thief 3 may not have been as good as Thief 1 and 2 but its still a good game. The hub was rubbish, imho, but there are a few levels that are really good and the Cradle is one of the best levels in any Thief game full stop. Yes, it was disappointing overall, but it wasn't awful.
I don't care about marketing speak only mechanics and hard facts. Before Thief 3 came out I wasn't such a stickler for the Thief mechanics because I didn't think anyone could mess it up! I hope EM know what the problems with the Thief 3 mechanics are.

Chances are good they're ignoring Thief 3 altogether, and putting all their focus squarely on building upon (and yes, modernizing) Thief 1 & 2.
