If System Shock 1 or System Shock 2 were re-made, what would you like to see? - by HitoshuraEA

Well, too bad I guess :(

I think a humorous version would get old pretty fast. It's been a trend for some time to break every halfway serious theme with irony (Batman's nipples anyone?) but I'm not a fan of that. It always seems like an excuse for real content, real ideas, and it removes you from what's happening on the screen. But immersion is what makes SS2 fun to play.

Still be a welcome distraction for a few hours to have a play of a humorous version.

Why pollute SShock with that when you could just launch games that had humor as their main goal? :erm:

Because they don't take place aboard doomed spaceships ;)

Oh man, doomed starships, the hilarious humor you can create with that theme...

If you want dumb wisecracks, why not just make them yourself?

Trying to extend the ss world beyond its intended target genre would be impossible if not terribly lame. The initial impression the game had on its fanbase is a lasting one, and nobody will ever subconsciously accept going against the grain so to speak because they are all thinking "system shock = this" When i see a lot of extraneous stuff being spawned from a good game, it gives the appearance that the game is losing its flare and ppl are just throwing darts at a phone book. On the upside (at least as far as I'm concerned), there's still plenty to be done with the system shock universe that could honor the game while bringing new life to it.

Speaking of genres. With SS1`s cyberpunk style that was largely eliminated in SS2, if SS2 were remade I`d love to see more of a cyberpunk approach within.
If there was ever a sequel also, I`d love for it to be set on earth or a populated planet (populated at the start of the game atleast). Using your hacking talents for things other than just self preservation, and instead being for things like greed (as what got the hacker in SS1 into all that trouble in the first place) has a big appeal for me.

I won't look at the System Shock story as completed until Shodan starts a war on the earth.
