If System Shock 1 or System Shock 2 were re-made, what would you like to see? - by HitoshuraEA

ZylonBane....get over it.
I was in the mood to beat you over the head with a cluestick.
Get over it.

It was Zylonbane, with the cluestick, in Shock General Chat. :cheeky:

I want decent co-op, 'faction AI' (like Bioshock), and people. I think it would be great if you, say, found a survivor with hacking skills, you could just go John Rambo and rely on him for the hacking. Kinda like co-op with the computer.
And I'd like if guns would only break if, say, I use them as clubs, or get them blown up, or something of that nature. Giving little ammo is tense enough. Making it so I first see the reload animation after hours of playing just pisses me off.

There is not little ammo in the game, especially standard bullets and shotgun shells. ;)

Yeah Ammo was definately not an issue lol I agree that the idea of guns breaking was implemented with good intentions (the concept was meant to give the player a sense of panic) however it really just ended up being an annoyance.

stalker has it right, i think (sort of, it was somewhat buggy in 1.0): the lower quality the guns are, the more often they're likely to jam and require reloading. in SS2, in the case of the laser pistol, the laser would fizzle, instead of jam, and you'd have to wait for a recharge period (about the length of an overloaded shot recharge, though with a different sound obviously) before it would fire again.
these jams would not require a repair, either (like you usually get when a rating 1 gun breaks), obviously. when the gun finally does reach a quality of 0, it would just jam permanently and THEN need repairs.

It was a gameplay decision, it didn't bother me at all, not now either since I prefer melee anyways.

And then the hacker dies and you're screwed.

I want the option to make my own choice for the storyline.
Continue Goggles' heroic quest? Become united with The Many to destroy SHODAN? Lose your humanity further and become a cyborg pawn of SHODAN?
with different objectives and endings
