If Strangeblue can do it, so can I. - by Tonamel

It's Blatant Self Promotion time!
For those that don't know (most of you), I've been working with some other people to start a company. We're just a couple weeks from opening our web doors, so I present you with the current website, where you can look around, and perhaps submit your email for notification of when we finally go live.
And with that, I throw myself to the wolves.

So this is like online RPG communities, yeah?

Sort of, except the players don't pretend to be somewhere/when/who else. They're just themselves, but they do help the Cyphers accomplish... whatever needs accomplishing at the time, and they can (and often do) have a serious impact on the story.

It's an ARG, yes?

I'm curious then, how is this a company and not just a community? Are participants expected to pay?

Yes, but we've found that people who've never heard of them make too many assumptions with that term ("Oh, so it's VR?"), so we're going with the more nebulous "Multiplayer Novel."
Scots, I'm not sure I'm at liberty to discuss the details of our business model before we go live (NDA, and whatnot) But the (very) short answers are: 1) We intend to make money, and 2) Not everyone.
I'll ask the others tomorrow, and if they say I can go into more detail, then I will.
(I like parentheses.)

Well, without further information, all I can say is Good Luck!
p.s. Who are your business partners? RL friends? INTERNET buddies?

The Flash eraser thing on the site was cool. Good luck with this.

Real life. I know better than to try to start any sort of serious endeavor with Internet People. ;)
