Real locations would be boring, I like the idea of recreating OMs with 20 years of hindsight and better tools more. Thief 2 Gold missions would be very cool but the last time we had someone try that... Yeah

Take the setting of an OM but create a totally new map from scratch. All the objectives from the OM have to be included, but the ways to achieve them of course can be different. I think with todays NewDark and everything it has to offer, a contest like this would make sense and give authors more ways for creativity and a totally different take on a well established mission.
I love this idea! I think additional objectives should be allowed, but that could be awesome.

As for second idea that I could whisper to your ears : it would be a Thief 2 Gold contest ; ie you have to pick one of the never made/finished Thief 2 Gold missions and make them reality so we could finaly make this thing comes true and how about picking the best entries to claim them as being "the official ones" and trying to massively distribute them?
This in general covers my idea but adds this feeling that a missing piece is somehow finally finished. I like it :)

I think additional objectives could add to the fun so the player doesn't know everything that's about to come before even starting the mission in Angelloader (or whatever you use)

All interesting ideas. I love the idea of using the unfinished OM’s even though it has been done. Also building something something real world seems cool.
I am a traditionalist and would love a contest of rooftop missions. May be old and boring but would be exciting to me.

I don't think a theme or any kind of tight restrictions are necessary as long as we get some great missions out of it.

but a contest needs a theme, tweak or twist otherwise there's no direction to compare them and it's just some random missions released at one day,

+1 for Supremcee's idea :)

If there is a theme chosen, how about leaving it as a one word suggestion, without elaboration? That way authors have a tether but not much of one and we can see where they take it.
For example:
What if the theme were ESCAPE.
That's it, no questions, just go.
So one author might make a jailbreak mission, another might make an "Ambush" style mission, one might make a drug themed mission, one might make Garrett go on a vacation in a beautiful location where no one expects his shenanigans, one author might make Garrett rescue someone, etc., etc.
We could even make a list of one word suggestions, and do a poll on the favourite one.
We could call it the "One Word Contest".

i like the one word idea as "daylight" fits into the one word theme :)
i just had this amazing idea based on one word theme, what if there were say a list of 20 words for themes, and the author can pick 3,for example could be "daylight" "escape" "caves"
so mission would be in daylight ,escape with caves, then there is variety and options for author to pick the multi theme of there choice
what do you all think? kinda like a mad lib but author can pick the 3 words they want, making it varied in missions that are released
