That's true, but I assume most people would want to take the better missions. Who would want to re-create Tracing the Courier to make it fun anyway? :cheeky:

that's totally true :D but maybe some people are "brave" enough or already have amazing ideas. or in reversed psychology, "I don't believe that anybody here can re-create a good (former lame OM) FM :sly:"

Put together/join Bafford´s map, Assassins, Undercover and the the Sword allowing to break into more places.
A challenging new plot.
Too big a map, perhaps.

How about a contest where the missions have to be based on real-world locations?

Remakes of missions from other stealth games - Deus Ex, Hitman, Splinter Cell.

There is only one specific idea in my mind when it comes to new contests but I cant put it into words because what swirls up in my head is necromancy and expansion into the dark side of The Hand Brotherhood.
So perhaps best merging of snow and mountain, wouldn't that feel like something fresh and new? :)

Well, with such a theme, I would assume that contestant chosing the best OMs as their goal would have an harder job than those taking the bad OMs since players would obviously have different expectations!
Want to make your own
Life Of Party ? Well, you would not make a convincing mission easily if you are not good enough at open level design and tall buildings... So doing better or as cool as the OM would be tough!
Tracing the Courier? Nobody loves it or a very few players so... Doing just your own city level would already make it better than the OM since it won't be just
Ambush with only two tailings but a new area with new challenges so clearly easier to satisfy players.
This is the reason I find such idea interesting (maybe the opportunity to do our Blackmail remake?)
As for second idea that I could whisper to your ears : it would be a Thief 2 Gold contest ; ie you have to pick one of the never made/finished Thief 2 Gold missions and make them reality so we could finaly make this thing comes true and how about picking the best entries to claim them as being "the official ones" and trying to massively distribute them?

It's probably overdone, but I've always enjoyed a mission with an unexpected adventure twist to it. Starts out with a basic rob this mansion, or steal from multiple places in a town, etc and you end up coming across a sub-story of some kind that supersedes the original objectives.
Something like, I decided to steal from the keepers, but while there I uncovered a plot to assassinate me so I'm going to strike first by framing the leaders who planned to take my life. Or the classic, go rob a mansion and find a crypt below with a necromancer, etc.

I've mentioned this before, but I think it would be really fun to have a contest where authors have to recreate a real world place in Dromed. This could be a specific structure, setting, or a landscape. Editing has gotten much more sophisticated in the last several years (mostly thanks to New Dark), so complex architecture is now much more feasible and attainable.
This wouldn't be a beauty contest, however. I'd still want authors to put together an accompanying story with objectives, and make it a actual mission that's to be played like any other.
