I'd still encourage wiki author pages, as developer-related information is still going to be useful to fm builders, even if it isn't a more general showcase for work as such - more like "I solved this problem by doing this", say.

I highly agree :thumb: (and I'll say no more, as I haven't been working on anything, personally.. maybe playing the first few no-doubt amazing Thief 3 FMs will motivate me)
Like DromEd before, it'll go from a very under-documented process to one that is even more refined than the devs themselves imagined (sure, we have more time, but it's still an achievement to surpass the original, especially without that much 'official' documentation).

Is that a better solution than encouraging authors to create a page specifically on "How to solve problem X"? Information buried in author pages is probably going to be harder to find than topic-based instructions.

There is nothing stopping the information being in two places - on the author page the context is different, that's all - more a personal view than a page that has several contributors.
The wiki being what it is, anyone is free to start up some sort of convention or system to see if it works - if not, it can be abandoned.
