Don’t know how many saw the YouTube video where someone rendered what the Lost City might have looked like before it was lost.

I’d love to see a FM based on that idea, maybe Garrett is told of some interesting thing down there and goes back for a third trip, but this time he finds a time portal and goes back in time to the city before it was underground ruins and lava pits.
That would be cool!.

A mission that is set in the times shortly after the Lost City (Karath-Din) was founded is "The Beginning of Era Karath-Din". Of course, the player character is not Garrett in this case, but instead some sort of spy, AFAIR. The mission begins with Karath-Din pictured in a somewhat opulent way, then continues below Earth's surface. But after a hopeful start gameplay goes downhill, and one has to do a virtually endless keyhunt-type of tasks in a rather large area without maps. After quite some time I gave it up. Possibly there's more in the end, but my patience limit was reached.

The full map as shown in the video would not be possible in a single mission - the cell cell count limit the world size.

I like the mystery surrounding the Lost City and prefer it to stay that way.

Just played this one and I agree the key hunt is tedious. The ending is awful imho. There are very few AI during most of the game, but after you get your last objective, all hell breaks loose. I simply had to run to the finish line. No lockpicks and very few supplies. Stairs and walkways are poorly constructed, requiring jumps to get over edges. Most rooms are empty. It does look pretty though.
I'm glad I played it, despite my gripes. It's one I have skipped over for 15 years. Now I have the spare time to play these types of FMs. It's worth a playthrough, but one must be patient and expect a lot of back tracking over a large map.
