Nuff/Neff: BBT is throwaway light entertainment, agreed, but while it may not grate on your nerves, it really does mine. I can appreciate how some folks might like it as a way to blow off some steam, but it's too lazy and charmless for me to work from that angle. I can't sit through an episode without wanting to put red-hot pins through my eyes and ears. It even has the shrill helium-voiced female character pulled right out of the sitcom tropes handbook. I'd rather have someone scrape their nails on chalkboard than hear that again.
If I wanted to see a bunch of ineffective excuses for people tossing quick-fire insults around for half an hour, there'd have to be something more intelligent in the writing to justify it... like, oh, say, every episode of The Thick of It. And even that manages to make them seem like actual people instead of animated paper dolls spouting lazy cracks.

Ah, BBT... I'm with you guys, I watched a bunch of episodes and it's kinda passable. There's an occasional good joke in there, and the characters have a wee bit of "awkward cute" kind of a charm to them based mostly on stereotypes, but cone you get past that there really isn't more to the show. Not much incentive to continue with so many other good shows on my netflix (like How I Met your Mother, IT Crowd, 30 Rock, etc. etc.)

Meh. It's okay. It can be really predictable and I class it the same as BBT, tier 3.
I have 4 tiers: Awesome (The Wire, GoT), Like (BB, Walking Dead, 30 Rock, Curb, BSG, Community), Throwaway (BBT, HIMYM), Everything else.
Apart from Tier 1, which can only ever have one fantasy and one non-fantasy as what I consider my favourite in that category, the others have a wide range. BB is far superior to TWD for example, IMHO, but neither are throwaway.
I also rank people in 4 tiers. And food. Everything actually. I'm a 4 tier guy.
