I've never been criticized for being too friendly before.
Even worse, Renz suggested you actually have a heart!

Ruggums - C'mon, let the man be, it's his right. Don't make it personal and nasty, and no, not even if he also swung a few punches back at you.
fett - Stop hitting back, fs...
Seriously, a man has the right to a change of heart, by whatever reason, to switch or retake paths in his life and when he's being open and honest about it, specially in such a vulnerable way as fett exposed at the thread's startup.
Ruggums, you've wit and venom to spare and I rarely shake my head at it, but this time...well, it's too personal a thing for fett to so freely pee on top of it and go OLOL. He ain't saying who is right or wrong according to his beliefs, the man's merely at a crossroads of questioning his own and it troubles him, by whatever reason he came upon this path, they're his reasons and we must respect'em, no matter how much you disagree with him.
C'mon, guys, live and let live.
*sits and is silent*
If this was you merely being April Fool's all over his ass.....well....forget what I said, but it's still a wee bit over the line (unless fett was in on it....in such a case, disregard this post entirely).

April Fool's or not, it doesn't excuse RBJ's usual disregard for anyone else's viewpoint. Don't you think it's a little too on the nose to post this on April 1st anyway? I actually posted it last night, but I would have waited if I'd remembered the date. RBJ and I have agreed on enough things lately that I can forgive him for being a complete asshat here, and I understand him thinking I'm wishy-washy. It's just hard to figure things out with people yelling at you. Maybe if his girlfriend had actually bought the farm last fall, he'd be able to clue in when people are having a true crisis.
Rug Burn Junky on 2/4/2010 at 01:47
If you weren't being a dick about my girlfriend, I'd almost have to commend you for turning the other cheek and actually being so 'christian.'
fett on 2/4/2010 at 01:56
If you weren't being such a dick in general, I'd have to commend you for finding someone who will actually sleep with you. Then again, I imagine she's needy enough to settle.

The reason I think (or thought, I'm confused) this whole thing might be a set up for an epic and rather tasteless April Fools joke was RBJ's first negative response. Sure, it sounds mean at first read, but to me, it seemed like there was some humor behind it. It was too over the top, and too generic in a "this is what we expect from RBJ times 10" kind of way for me to take it seriously. The rest of the responses between he and Fett seem about the same. Just them going at each other, but with a smirk and a giggle veiled behind the insults.
So with RBJ jumping right out the gate with the acerbic wit turned up to 12 in this, and it being April 1st, I got a little suspicious.
Thing is, if it all isn't a joke...Jesus RBJ, I know you like Fett and all, and you have some issues with religion, but don't you think you're wearing your heart on your sleeve on this one?
And if it is an April Fool's joke, I think it's a little too mean spirited to be funny.

I'm laughing. ...the pricks got me.
Then again, I'm so pumped full of drugs I'd laugh at paint drying.

RBJ is just taking the 'tough love' role in the intervention. Seeing fett go back to God is like seeing your uncle who was an absolute fall down puking all over the dog alcoholic but has been sober for the past five years suddenly come home with a handle of Captain Morgan and start downing shots. Sure, it may make living his life a little easier for him, but dammit, it's sad to see.

Ok, insensitivity be damned, that last exchange was hilarious. Seriously, you two are quite the married couple, eh? ;)
Funny thing, I initially thought the "mistake" fett referred to was to go back to his pastor. I'm not judging, mind you, it actually says more about me than anything I guess. Not sure what to make of that...

Blame fett for that, he made that first post so damn heartfelt and sympathetic even I wanted to tell him it was all going to be ok. ;) Then again, if he'd skipped the subtlety and went for the cartoonish fundie route, it would have been over before it started, I'm sure.
But I totalled lolled at "It's 7000, you tard."
