I think I've discovered why SS2 has always been so hard for me - by charlestheoaf

Actually I did miss it, or at least misunderstood its importance. But that doesn't explain why nobody thought to, you know, touch the little pad next to them.

Those pads don't turn them on and off. Polito "discreetly turned them back on", remember? The pads just provide the QBR with a quantum entanglement sample.

Ahhhh, and to think all these years I was doing the developers a great disservice. Well that makes me feel a lot better about the plot, and more than a little sheepish.

Yeah, playing through now using the occassional healing item (and actually allowing myself to use ammo :P) seems a lot easier. I should kick up the difficulty now.
I also really like energy weapons, as you can simply recharge them for more ammo.
I never used the QBRMs because I never really had a need to. Usually the only time I would die is from a random enemy respawning behind me (particularly dangerous since I would generally run around with such low health). That or because of especially difficult encounters. These are situations which I certainly don't mind doing a save/load for.
And yes, I did turn them on. I just didn't like spending the nanites for a revive.

You and me have a lot in common when it comes to SS2 gameplay style. ;)
Do you by any chance collect all the useless items and stash them together in the MedSci chem. storage room and later use the recycler to get some cash? :p

That begs the question: "What about Cortez?".
I mean, he dies after the QBRMs have been turned back on, and I would assume, since he was on the VB the entire time, he would have submitted a quantum entanglement sample to all the onboard QBRMs already...

Maybe he was locked in the crew quarters area, the access card is out of his reach and the Command elevator is offline.
Matthew on 13/4/2007 at 23:05
Maybe the reset wipes the system's memory of the crew's entanglement patterns?
Kolya on 14/4/2007 at 07:08
Is there a corpse that can be identified as Cortez?
Because during the encounter when entering rec deck we don't see him die.
He could have just run somewhere and we never met him again.

Well, if it were in real life, he probably would have ran into the bulkhead in the area. But I think the other side is locked down which requires the access card. :o
