I think I've discovered why SS2 has always been so hard for me - by charlestheoaf

What, you mean you refuse to turn them on?
That's just dumb.
No, that's just different from the way you play, okay?
Back on topic, I wasn't too ashamed to use the med hypos myself. Especially not around those damn turrets. Always had to use a med hypo or 2 after I encountered one of those laser turrets (well, until I got better weapons)

The QBRMs were put there to keep you from abusing save & reload. I know it may seem hard to pay the ten nanites...but just once try and imagine you are really on that ship. No saves, no backdoors. You will enjoy it.

That's something I've never quite been able to do.
It just seems wrong, somehow, to be able to keep going after dying.
I'm torn as to whether using QBRMs makes the game harder or easier, though.
I think easier; you can just die to get past a difficult situation and back to the QBRM, getting basically free teleportation and healing, to the point where you hardly even care if you die anymore and can just start to use death as a quick way to get around, whereas with the save-abusing method, you have to always make sure to keep yourself alive, which means using a lot more healing and being a lot more careful about your health.

10 is easy to pay when you have stocked up some supplies, but I think it's wise to avoid the QBRMs in the first two decks. (you don't really need them that early in the game anyways)

Why use the Skorpion to kill an enemy in one second when you can also kill him in thirty seconds by shooting him fifty times with the Pistol?

A sign of decadence among System Shock players is when you go around using the Magnum on cameras because you have nothing less powerful...
word. :P

Reading this I got a taste for a third SS2 run on Impossible. :p

I could easily have shot the cameras in SS1 with the Magnum or pretty much any gun, I had endless amounts of ammo of all sizes and shapes. :p

Harder or easier isn't really relevant, IMHO. The reason they exist is to make the game more immersive. They provide a means by which a lone human could plausibly survive the events of the game from beginning to end.

And a means by which most of the rest of the crew should plausibly have survived.

You didn't seriously miss the part where Polito tells you Xerxes took them all offline, did you?
