God, I love this game. Okay, if I get the ring from Azura, does that mean I've completed the main quest? I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.
I can't decide now whether to start a new game that I got for Christmas (Max Payne, I think it's called) or do Morrowind again as a thief. I know, from reading many of these posts, that I missed a LOT of stuff the first time through. What an awesome game!

Yep. When you get the ring, it means you've finished. But go ahead and join as many guilds as you can and then, if you have a pc, install some mods.
Zaphod on 8/1/2004 at 22:37
Wait, which ring?
Are you talking about the Moon-and-Star ring, which she gives you the ring after you got into the Cave of the Incarnate, or did she give you her other ring after you beat Dagoth Ur?

That's a good question, Zaphod, but I think she would have known the difference.:)
Christie, don't stop! Keep going on, getting new missions, joining new houses and guilds, looting old tombs and sacred ruins. I felt like all the fun just biggan after I'd finished the main quest, because I had no more responsibilty toward anyone and there wasn't anymore "pressing" business to attend too. I was free to do as I wanted. So many more possibilties!
After you've trained yourself into a really powerfull...whatever, go and get one of the expansions (Bloodmoon's great!) and go on on a whole new set of quests.
By the way, the "Thief" class sucks...Yeah, yeah I know...my name...

Yeah, probably. Cause after getting the Moon-and-Star everyone and their dog is still yammering at you about Trials and Tests and Won't You Please Save The World. Ok, stupid question.
Christi19 on 9/1/2004 at 15:32
Heh Heh, Zaphod, after reading my posts you should know that is NOT a stupid question. (grin) But it's the second ring - there are expansion packs, huh? Hmmm, very interesting. This character is pretty unstopable at this point - do the expansion packs add more challenges? Cool!
Immortal, that's a good point about no more responsibility. I may need to go back now and do some more damage!
Zaphod on 9/1/2004 at 15:54
The expansion packs definately add new quests and challenges. While eventually, ANY character in Morrowind gets to the point where he's virtually invincible, the fights in the expansion packs are definately made for a high-level player. A low-level player wouldn't last 2 minutes.
Tribunal tends to be a fairly linear plot, but a very deep and rich story. It got knocked for not being as open-ended as the main Morrowind game, but I thought it was a nice change of pace after the relative "What the hell do I do next"-ness of Morrowind. Yes, the plot is virtually on rails. But there are a lot of new quests, two very interesting main plots that intersect, and some new baddies that will test your abilities. Plus TONS of new artifacts, unique weapons and armor that will amaze and astound.
Bloodmoon is more open-ended, with less focus on great story, and more focus on new baddies. There are, conservatively, an assload of nasty new beasts on the new island, and you'll spend an awful lot of time in the wilderness fighting them. The quests aren't as interesting as Tribunal, and the new artifacts and weapons aren't as cool, but there is a lot more opportunity for exploration.
I would recommend eventually picking up both of them eventually - they compliment each other nicely. Look at it this way: if, in the main game, you liked the cities more, talking to people, going through buildings and houses, then Tribunal might be more your thing. If you liked running around the Ashland or Azura's Coast, exploring random small dungeons and fighting wild animals, then Bloodmoon might be more to your liking.

Thanks for the rundown, Zaphod! My inclination after reading your post is to pick up both expansion packs. But I may run around in Morrowind for awhile longer first. (grin)

Play Max Payne instead. 1 or 2.

The fisrt one was :p after a few missions and I've heard the second one was even worse. But I have to admit, the game is good for those who want to give a rest to their brain. They can simply switch of their brains and play for an hour or two without ever needing it.
